ROBERT KESSLER social kinetic art
The work by Aschaffenburg-based artist Robert Kessler (born 1956) belongs to the category of “Kinetic Art” in which movement is defined as an aesthetic aspect of the artwork. Within the context of his artistic career, he has broadened this concept into “Social Kinetic Art,” a term he has coined that includes works acting as initiators to processes of personal and social movement, communication, reflection, and transformation.
Through his profound themes, Robert Kessler’s artistic approach directly manifests tangible and heartfelt inspiration with the people who come into contact with his works or are in contact with them. Kessler’s wealth of experience in the implementation of many such works has prompted a large number of public and private clients to collaborate with him.
The exhibition reveals views into extraordinary, quasi-magical documentation photography of his actions and new kinetic artworks that can be appreciated as studies, as well as research. The objects are concerned with the phenomenon of being alive - “Breath of Life” -, with the interplay of the forces of dependency, with the light of selfobservation and with the trust of making hidden wounds visible.
